Arrival of guests started at 7:00 pm to different rail, road and air ways. Some of luxurious hotels in Hyderabad were booked for the accommodation of delegates. Accommodation for senior museum professional was arranged in hotel ‘Rajdhani’ while hotel ‘Charminar’ accommodated the young museum and other professionals.

Mostly all delegates approached at 2nd of March. Breakfast was served to the delegates in their hotel’s room. On the special request by Mr. Supreo Chanda, Mr. Ahemad Ali arranged a wagon for a little trip of famous places in the city Hyderabad. About 20 people boarded this bus for the visit of State Museum Hyderabad, Birla museum of science and technology, Birla Mandir, Nicholas road. Rest of the delegates took rest in their rooms.
Around 8:00 pm all delegates were gathered in the Salarjung Museum campus for the dinner. Dinner was arranged in the Museum canteen. After delicious dinner all delegates moved to their hotels.

It was 8:30 when all delegates took delicious breakfast at the canteen in Salarjung Museum. Around 8:50 registrations for the conference started outside the auditorium, western block of Salarjung Museum. Registration went on for more than 2 hour. Around 110 delegates got registered to attend the “only museum conference”. With every registration delegates were honored with a beautiful carry bag, containing a book on “Golconda” heritage, invitation card to attend the conference, a wishes card, brochures of Andhra Pradesh tourism, A note pad with the imprints of Museum and Salarjung. Around 30 students, 60 senior delegates and 20 professional from other fields got registration at this occasion. Media persons with a big number were also preset in the front rows.
Chief Guest, minister, Mr. A. Ramnarayan Reddi approached the Museum auditorium for the inauguration of conference at around 12:10 pm. The holy inaugural happed at 12:15 with the “Deep Prajjwalan” (Candle Enlightenment) and “Pushpaarpan”.
At the very first addressing Mr. A.K.V.S. Reddi (Director Salarjung Museum) wished his welcome to all delegates. Addressing the chief guest he congratulated all the members for being a professional of this reputed field.
With a kind address Mr. C.P. Uniyal welcomed the chief guest and all delegates as well.
Former director, Salarjung Museum, Mr. M.L. Nigam addressed the delegates and had a brief discussion on the theme of the conference, Profession’s challenges and issues. He described the importance of objects in the museums, social aspects related to the museum objects also.
Inaugural addressing by chief guest Mr. A. Ramnarayan Reddi, was delivered with the Inauguration of journal Museum, published by MAI. At the same occasion a beautiful memento was also honored to the chief guest.
Mr. P.K. Sharma (Secretary MAI) voted thanks to Chief Guest, Director, Salarjung museum, and executive member of association, media person, all delegates and staff of Salarjung museum.
Tea with light refreshment was offered to the delegates as the vote of thank got over.
Session 1st
It was time when Mr. Jagdish Mittal, an art historian, industrialist, private collector of antiquities and art objects, private museum owner chaired the session. Mr. Somnath Bhattacharya (former Professor, Calcutta University) addressed the keynote with a brief discussion of almost all facts, function and professional complexes of the field. He also mentioned the importance and use of advanced technology in museums but in a moderated form. Professor put some burning issues on the front like training opportunity and job availability. He shared his thought on problems arranging museum and profession. Favoring mere use of electronics he suggested how to enhance the potential of museums. Reminding the concept of intangible heritage he specifically explained the need of its conservation. Proceedings were continued with the registration.
It was time when Mr. Jagdish Mittal took the mike delivered his thought approach to the audience and delegates. Describing the importance of art, antiquities, history, and study of art, objects and history for the proper upliftment of museum status.
Mr.S.M.Nair former president MAI delivered his lecture on the challenges and issues of the profession.
Mr. Anand Burdhan (lecturer, Delhi Institute for the Heritage Research and Management) delivered his lecture on “Colonial Museology and Problems in Museums Profession”.
Session 2nd
Prof. K.K.Basa, Director, Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manava Sangrahaalaya (IGRMS) opened his thought book with an interesting lecture entitled “Museum as a Profession: Challenges in 21st Century”, with a discussion on museum need for the human resource diversity.
Mr.Sethuramalingam, Director, Regional Museum of Natural History (RMNH) Bhopal, put his views in front of museum professionals from across the nation. He read a paper entitled “Profession, challenges and issues”. In his paper he beautifully described the market forces on museums, curatorial identity problems, as well as for the managerial prescriptions.
As session got over, delegates were invited to attend the cultural, Quwaali program, which lasted for more than one hour, students of DIHRM, NMI also presented their talent with some sort of songs, Saraswati Vandana, Mr. P.K. Sharma enlighten the mood of delegates by his nice voice
Session ended with dinner offer by Mr. P.K. Sharma, arranged by the Salarjung museum staff.

Session 3rd
Mr. S. Asif A. Naqvi (editor, journal, MAI) chaired the session.
Mr. Jasmeet Singh (curator, medical museum, dept. of dravyaguna, faculty of Ayurveda, BHU) presented paper entitled “Aurvedic Museum as a Profession and Challange”.
Mr. S.K. Kapoor, Banker, Numismatic collector addressed the delegates with his paper entitled “Museum as a Profession: Issues and Challenges”. He stated that we have yet to professionalize the profession missionary zeal.
Dr. V. Jeyaraj, delivered a lecture on Issues and Challenges in museums of Tamilnadu.
Very boldly he defined the problems of young and born museum professionals. He also mentioned the hesitation of youngsters to put their problems to the seniors.
Special session was conducted with the inaugural of a book “Sublime Delight” written by Mr. Jagdish Mittal. Mr. Chenoy, secretary (Jagdish and Kamla Mittal Private Museum) delivered a lecture on behalf of Mr. Mittal and Mittal Museum. In the same session Mr. Mittal also show a slide presentation entitled “Kalpasutra and other Medieval Painting” from his private collection.
Tea was offered to the delegates with light refreshment to all delegates in the adjacent luxury lobby next to auditorium.
Session 4th
After the tea break, Mr. Mittal chaired the session; Mr. R.D. Chaudhary (former D.G. national museum, President MAI) delivered “Motichandra Memorial Lecture”. He read a paper entitled “Vaishnav Satras of Assam: a Gloomy Picture”. Mr. Chaudhary arranged a slide show with the pictures of ‘Satras’ with a movie on ‘Satras’. In his lecture Mr. Chaudhary mentioned the problems faced by the Satras in Assam.
With a very humble request the Secretary Mr. P.K. Sharma offered lunch to all delegates.
Session continued, Mrs. Neeru Mishra chaired the session proceeding.
Miss. Indraani Bhattacharya presented a paper entitled “Human Resource Management in Indian Museums”.
Dr. Arayan presented a paper entitled “Museums of folk and tribes”.
Ms. Amanpreet (student NMI) presented a paper with interesting and worth topic, entitled “Mentors and Mentoring Mentorship”.
Ms. Lyric Bannarjee (Ph.D. scholar, Calcutta University), presented her paper entitled “Social Inclusion: Professional Challenges for the Museums”.
Day ended with an offer of visit to the Golconda fort, two buses carried all the delegates to the fort, a very nice light and sound show in the fort was arranged for the delegates after their fort visit. Delegates then moved to the hotel residency inn, here Mr. Jagdish Mittal offered a delicious and dinner with a cool comfort and all luxury. As the dinner got over, delegates moved to their hotels.

Session 5th

Dr. S.M. Nair chaired the session.
Mr. K. Harinarayana (Senior Museum Professional) delivered his lecture on professional problems of the Museology field. He shared his experiences, brought his ideas for born museum professionals in his lecture.
Ms. Ishani Chattarji (Ph.D. scholar Calcutta University), read her paper entitled “Sensitization of environmental heritage: challenges for museum”.
Mr. Amrit Sarkaar (Student, NMI, M.A. 1st year), put his energetic views on front, asking some burning questions from the senior museum professionals, presenting a paper entitled “Museum Mission a Semiological Approach”.
Ms. Jennifer Chaudhary, (Student, NMI) presented a paper, entitled museum as profession, training and opportunity”.
Sarawati Pal chaudhari, presented a paper, entitled, “Uttaraayan Exhibition: challenges for museum profession.
Mr. Pratik Ghosh, put his views on the problems faced by the museum professionals in museums and field at present.
Mr. Vikas Rewappa Usture, (Research scholar, NMI) presented his scholarly paper, entitled, “Challenges Faced by Museum Professionals in the Management of Conservation Man Power: Motivation”.
Mr. Deepak (Student, NMI), presented a paper entitled “Museums and People Wishes”.
Mr. Pankaj (Student, NMI), presented a paper entitled “Coats and Curatorship”
Mr. P.K. Sharma presented the annual report briefly.
Mr. Rajasundaram (Treasurer, MAI, presented the association expenses and forth coming budget for the year 2008-10, very gladly he also told that the number of lifetime members has crossed 400).
ELECTION FOR EXECUTIVE BODY FOR THE YEAR 2008-2010.
As the session got over, election committee preceded.
Mr. A.K.V.S. Reddy was elected as president for the next two years.
Former Acting President (Mr. C.P. Uniyal) was elected for the post of Vice President along with Mr. Supreo Chanda as another Vice President.
Mr. P.K. Sharma was elected as Secretary again for the year 2008-10.
Mr. S. Asif A. Naqvi (editor, journal, MAI), will continue for next two years.
Mr. Rajasundaram (Treasurer, MAI) continued as well.

Mr. Virendra (Deputy Keeper, Museum, Salarjung) was elected as Asst. Secretary.
Mr. Rajesh Prashad will continue as the second Asst. Secreatary.
BUISSNESS MEETING 2008
A proposal for quaternary newsletter was put to make the all professionals make aware about the association activities, events, grants and scholarship, job vacancies. Proposal went under consideration.
Another proposal for the editorial board was also thrown among the delegates.
Mr. Supreo Chanda proposed theme for the next year conference.
