Future of intangible heritage

Culture or better said ‘Heritage’ is the true identity of a country while diversity of heritage reflects the richness and perfection. If a nation is considered as a body then heritage is its soul and define the vitality of a nation. In modern age heritage is pushed out of the social column. A mixed strange culture has replaced it. In most of the developing and undeveloped country its significant to talk about heritage because they have the largest stock. Every undeveloped country when begin to develop, its heritage is always sacrificed. All the traditions get infected with alien culture rapidly; the bitter fact of information technology is that it grows having a lot entertainment but heritages pay a big amount for this. Culture and heritage are instinctly attached with any nation which is just taken for granted lime museums. Unplanned development ruins the soul of nation which is ignored in the beginning. When a country is capable to stand on its own. It tries to recollect the scattered memories as a symbol of its prideful identity. And finally museums are expected to play revitalizing role to rejuvenate the soul of heritage. No doubt museum try their best but if administration and government of such countries already had a sharp eye for heritage safeguarding and restoration during the development, it can be tremendous assistance to museum’s function.

In developing country like India it is worth to talk about heritage fading, it is the right time when heritage fading can be checked at the crucial point of lost and saved. Country is under heavy developmental phase. Every five year plan boost up the growth many times. Quite possible that within a very few years India will count on among world’s leading countries. India will have a great economic, political, advanced but dry infrastructure, being devoid of its soul. No doubt India will lead other developing nation but without complete passion of its identity. We will have some cream residue of folk songs, dances, martial art and craft etc. but the real source disappeared.

Development can’t be blamed directly because it is must part of life line of nation but if process is not in a preplanned and predetermined direction it takes the country to the condition of cultural dryness. If we loose some intangible heritage it is almost impossible to recover it. Main reason is that intangible heritage doesn’t fossilize. It lives in memory of society. Better it can be said that intangible heritage is cultural memory. Every person more or less has some amount of intangible heritage, but the people who are from the field of performing art, having some personnel experience of events, are must to be taken care of.
